Simon Cassels: Nike Wyang
Simon Cassels wanted to show us all this spec spot for Nike that he directed with his partner Justin Blampied. The concept champions the idea that love, perseverance and passion shall win over evil, and as you will see, is executed in the style of Indonesian shadow puppet theatre.

L&K Global Special Projects Team
They say 2010 will be the year of smart thinking. In short, collaborative working, and I am inclined to agree, so I will be interested to see the progress of a new collaboration between L&K Creative, GHAVA (Graphic Havoc) and Ian Anderson of TDR.
Together they will form what they are calling The Global Special Projects Team. The 3 entities will continue to work as independent agencies but will be brought together only for their specialist projects. More here

Grafik Design Awards 2010
Well, I think we all want 2010 to be an award winning year, and so it could not be more apt way to start than to let you all know about Grafik Magazine's first award scheme.
A few differences from other awards I suppose, in that they are no categories, and that these awards are making a conscious effort to rid them of their sometimes elitist nature by introducing low fees for entry, making it far more accessible to everyone.
Also the judging panel consists of some rather notable people in the world of design including:
Angharad Lewis, Wim Crouwel, Nick Roope, Emily King, Eva Rucki, Peter Saville, Caroline Roberts, Ben Parker, Kate Moross, Sara De Bondt, Phil Baines and Marina Willer.
May be a good way to start the year, non?
The awards are now open for entries at with a closing date of 31 January 2010. The awards event itself will take place 29 April 2010.

It's probably been a long and eventful year for everyone, myself included. 2009 has seen a ton of super creative work from all around the globe, and I can see 2010 will be no different in that respect.
A big thank you to all those who have submitted work, and seasonal regards to my fellow design bloggers.
I'm looking forward to 2010's challenges and hope everyone in the creative community has a relaxing festive period and, more importantly, a fantastic new year!

IY A: 12th Man Photography Project
Matt Cottis from IY A Studios emailed in to show us their latest self initiated London based photography project called 'Twelfth Man - Sport City London' which documents people and their connection to sport. The project is ongoing and they hope to continue photographing many more interesting characters and venues that make up London's diverse sporting communities. More info here.

Quincy from The Jailbreak want to let all the O-L readers know that they are giving away a bunch of free prints over the next couple of days. They have collaborated with artist Karen O'Leary (the lady who did those crazy map cuts) on the Manhattan Barcode Print. She hand drew the map of manhattan in thousands of tiny lines and then removed various segment to reveal a barcode. More here.

Kent Lyons: Xmas Past/Present/Future
