Mash Creative: State of the Obvious Posters

For the first in an ongoing set of prints, Mash Creative have created a series of 'Really Useful' posters extending the philosophy and thinking behind the branded 'State of the Obvious®' collection. The four themed posters include Greenwhich Mean Time, Emoticons, Print Sizes and Metric Conversion information and are available in A0, A1 and A2 sizes exclusively from print-process.

Anoo: The clocks went back!?

Anoo Design thought they would create a poster in response to that age old question that pops up around this time of year; Do the clocks go backwards or forward? Well I was a little late on this one, so won't be as much use as it should have been for you guys and gals, but no matter, as it is worth going to see the rest of their work as well as this poster.

GF Smith: Art on Paper since 1885

I was recently invited to attend the private view of GFSmith's fantastic heritage exhibition at one of London's most (in)famous Georgian town houses, No.33 Portland Place.
Upon arrival I had the pleasure of meeting GFSmith's reps, along with a few very notable creative industry figures; indeed, my first clue as to the kind of respect GFSmith and their fine papers have earned over the last century.
Thereafter, in what was quite an intimate affair, a handful of us were kindly ushered from room to lavishly distressed room, as well as through each contrasting decade of the company's impressive history of collaboration with some of the world's most respected creatives including Saul Bass, Sir Peter Blake, Peter Saville, Bill McKay, Paul Rand, Milton Glaser, SEA Design and Rankin, which suffice to say, resulted in the groundbreaking and iconic design work that was set before us in glass covered table cabinets.

The tour was expertly narrated by Paul Scharf, which made it all the more fascinating. With great insights, reminding us all of the wonderful tactility of paper and it's power to impact perceptions; you couldn't fail to recognise the company's very real passion and appreciation for the highest quality in all things creative.
This archive of historic design work was also complimented by more contemporary pieces of work from the likes of Made Thought, Build, Proud Creative and the like; evidence then, of GFSmith's continuing importance and influence in today's creative world.

HigginsonHurst: Pick Me Up Art Fair

Tonight I'll be popping over to see the preview of HigginsonHurst's launch, hosted by Print Club London, at 'Pick Me Up', the first contemporary graphic art fair in the UK. The scene is set at London's Somerset House and the show will be officially opening 23 April - 3 May 2010. Looks like it's going to be a cracking show, so you can get more info on that here.

Mash Creative

Speaking of great posters, I just wanted to quickly say a big thank you to Mark at Mash Creative for this fantastic poster, which I received quite some time ago, but have now at last got round to framing!! Now it sits proudly on my studio wall - so thank you!

While we are here, I also wanted to say that I have been more than busy this last few months with work, so apologies to anyone who has emailed in that I may have neglected or missed etc. Anyway, as you were, and let's get back to it!

Seb Lester: A Blazing Update

Another super update from the ultra talented Seb Lester.
This update brings us even more beauty including this fantastic reversible ambigram poster, entitled 'Blazing' (currently available from Picture On Walls), along with some solid pieces of work for Apple, Faber, Penguin and a few other very special projects!

Quincy from The Jailbreak want to let all the O-L readers know that they are giving away a bunch of free prints over the next couple of days. They have collaborated with artist Karen O'Leary (the lady who did those crazy map cuts) on the Manhattan Barcode Print. She hand drew the map of manhattan in thousands of tiny lines and then removed various segment to reveal a barcode. More here.

Cardiff based graphic designer & illustrator, Matt Needle emailed in, he wanted to let us know about his latest work in the form of these Alfred Hitchcock posters.

Jordan Blood

Jordan Blood is currently studying for an MA in Graphic Branding & Identity at the LCC, and has sent in one of his most recent projects; an identity and a series of posters for the Leatherhead Theatre, which are inspired by the internal Brutalist architecture, which predates the National Theatre and the Barbican Estate.You can see more of his work here
